Ariel Award

The Ariel Award is an award that recognizes the best of Mexican cinema. Given annually, since 1946, by the Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences (AMACC), the award recognizes artistical and technical excellence in the Mexican film industry. The purpose of the Ariel recognition is to stimulate and increase the excellence of Mexican cinema, favor the growth of the industry, and promote the meeting and strengthening of the national film community. It is regarded as the most prestigious award in the Mexican film industry and considered Mexico's equivalent to the Oscars of the United States.

Ariel (1988 film)

Ariel is a 1988 Finnish drama film directed and written by Aki Kaurismäki. The film tells the story of Taisto Kasurinen, a Finnish miner who must find a way to live in the big city after the mine closes.

Ariel (The Little Mermaid)

Ariel is a fictional character and the titular protagonist in Walt Disney Pictures' The Little Mermaid franchise, first appearing in the 1989 animated film. Voiced by Jodi Benson, Ariel is the youngest daughter of King Triton and Queen Athena of an underwater kingdom called Atlantica. She is often rebellious, and in the first film, she longs to be a part of the human world. She marries Prince Eric, whom she rescued from a shipwreck, and together they have a daughter, Melody. She is the fourth Disney Princess, the first Disney Princess to be developed during the Disney Renaissance, and the first Disney Princess since Aurora.

Ariel (TV series)

Ariel, also known as Disney Jr.'s Ariel and Ariel – The Little Mermaid beginning in its second season, is an American animated television series produced by Wild Canary Animation for Disney Jr. that premiered on June 27, 2024. The series is inspired by "The Little Mermaid" by Hans Christian Andersen, the 1989 animated film by Walt Disney Animation Studios, and the 2023 live-action remake. The series was renewed for a second season in June 2025. The second season premiered on November 10, 2025.
