Olive Tree (song)

"Olive Tree" is a song by English musician Peter Gabriel, released in August 2023 as the eighth single in promotion of his tenth studio album I/O. Since August had a blue moon in 2023, this was the first of two tracks that was released in August, the other being "Love Can Heal". Three different mixes were released starting with the Bright-Side Mix on 1 August 2023, mixed by Spike Stent. The Dark-Side and In-Side mixes followed later that month, which were mixed by Tchad Blake and Hans-Martin Buff respectively. Gabriel said of the song, "I wanted it to have some speed to it but I also wanted some mystery, too. I think it is a celebration in a way and there's a real sense of being alive."

Olive Tree (religious movement)

Olive Tree is the most common English name of a Christian new religious movement founded in South Korea by Park Tae Son. The movement was originally known in Korea as Jesus Christ Congregation Revival Association of Korea and later as The Church of Heavenly Father. In a revised 2009 version of his 1996 doctoral dissertation on the history of Korean Pentecostalism, pastor Young Hoon Lee called the Olive Tree "the fastest growing and largest of the Korean syncretistic religions during the 1950s and 1960s," although he noted it had become "largely insignificant" by the end of the 20th century.

Olive

The cultivated olive is a subspecies of subtropical evergreen tree in the family Oleaceae. Modern cultivars are traced primarily to the Near East, Aegean Sea, and Strait of Gibraltar. Olea europaea is the type species for its genus, Olea, which lends its name to the Oleaceae plant family. The olive fruit is classed botanically as a drupe, similar in structure and function to the cherry or peach. The term oil was originally synonymous with olive oil.

In botany, a tree is a perennial plant with an elongated stem, or trunk, usually supporting branches and leaves. In some usages, the definition of a tree may be narrower, e.g., including only woody plants with secondary growth, only plants that are usable for timber, or only plants above a specified height. Wider definitions include taller palms, tree ferns, bananas, and bamboos.
